If you have some time to kill before crossing the bridge that joins the Scottish mainland from Kyle of Lochalsh to the Isle of Skye, I suggest you pay a visit to the seaside resort of Plockton. What a picturesque little village.

Going out of the car, we came face to face with this:


I only realised later that the tide was going down. Half an hour or so after taking the pictures above, it was possible to walk over to the islet. I remember being a bit concerned about whether the tide could rise and leave us stranded while we were there, but we plucked the courage to cross over as we saw others doing the same. Bad safety policy, as the others might well have had exactly the same thoughts. In the end, we all survived the bout of wild recklessness.
